In August of 1920, Congress created the 19thamendment which gave women the right to vote. After many years of fighting for equality, women gained the right to vote at that time, but they are still fighting for and striving for equality in the work force and equality as policy decision makers in areas that impact the lives of all Americans and American families. In 2020 the nation once again made history by electing the first women Vice President, Kamala Harris. The parallels are amazing. It is our responsibility as women of this era to carry the torch that so many women carried before us and exercise our civic duties to not only be represented but to help guide and inform citizens In our communities. We will also help to guide as well as inform and communicate our needs and concerns with elected public officials at the local state and federal level. It is also our responsibility to help to elect public officials who will best make and drive policy that addresses our values and needs as progressive women in our communities. We agree with Justice Ginsberg in that women indeed do belong in all places where decisions are being made.
